Contra Costa Jewish Community Center Appoints Yana Agranovsky Berger as Executive Director

The Contra Costa Jewish Community Center (CCJCC) is pleased to announce the appointment of Yana Agranovsky Berger as its new executive director, effective March 18, 2024. Yana will be working with the board in creating the new Contra Costa JCC, developing programs, and overseeing the growth and operations of the organization.

Yana brings extensive leadership, organizational, and development experience to the position. With over 10 years in the Jewish nonprofit world, Yana brings a wealth of knowledge and passion for driving positive change to her new role. Yana served in various leadership positions within the nonprofit world and since 2015 has been the Bay Area Director for ORT America, the world’s largest non-profit Jewish education network. Yana has leveraged marketing, technology, and management consulting expertise to support clients in both nonprofit and commercial settings. A native of Israel and longtime leader in the Bay Area Jewish community, Yana is fluent in Hebrew, Russian, and English.

“We are so excited to be working with such a dynamic and community-focused individual,” said Larry Jacobs, President of the CCJCC. “After a nine-month national search, our good fortune has brought us an amazing leader from our own backyard. Yana will be the catalyst we need to revitalize the organization and better serve Jewish families in Contra Costa County.”

“The last few months have been difficult for the Jewish community in the Bay Area and throughout the world. The current challenges have energized me to serve my local community and help strengthen our collective experiences and identity,” said Berger.  “As a mom of three young children, I’m honored and excited to work with the CCJCC board of directors and lay leaders throughout the county to build a vibrant Jewish community for ourselves, our kids, and our grandkids.”

The CCJCC works in partnership to connect and strengthen the Contra Costa Jewish community by providing inclusive, inspiring, and engaging programing, including the popular Under One Tent series, as well as events and activities directed to teens and young families.  A “JCC with many walls” for more than a decade, the CCJCC has granted over $735,000 to local Jewish organizations since 2019 to support innovative programing and Jewish life in Contra Costa County.

The CCJCC invites the community to join in welcoming Yana Berger and soon will announce events and opportunities to meet our new Executive Director.
