One of our favorite speakers is Law Professor Amos Guiora. Guiora, whose previous book focused on bystanders during the Holocaust, now shines a spotlight on issues that are not frequently discussed–how institutions enabled perpetrators of sexual abuse of young athletes. His expose focuses on cases at Michigan State University, the Ohio State University, and Pennsylvania State University and in USA Gymnastics and the Catholic Church. As Prof. Paul Cassell at the University of Utah Law School notes, “Guiora’s thoughtful exploration of these breaches of trust helps us understand these ‘armies of enablers,’ who too often make sexual assaults possible.”
