Bring the family, sleeping bags, pillows, potluck dinner, and a sense of adventure! Snacks and refreshments will be available for purchase. Movies will be shown at the Contra Costa JCC.
 
The Black Stallion

Adapted from the classic book of the same name, this critically acclaimed 1979 film starring Mickey Rooney tells the heartwarming story of a young boy and his close relationship with a black stallion.
 
 
The Velveteen Rabbit

It is the turn of the 20th century and a young boy is sent to live with his stern grandmother. Without friends of his own, he turns to a velveteen rabbit in the attic and soon the stuffed animal becomes his constant companion. Featuring a mix of live action and animation, the film accompanies the boy as he enters a world of magical wonder and learns the meaning of love.
 
 
 
Witches

In this fantasy based on a story by Roald Dahl, young Luke travels with his grandmother to England where he is told to look out for witches—bald, purple-eyed creatures ruled over by the evil Grand High Witch whose goal is the elimination of all of the children in England. When Luke and his friend Bruno are turned into mice, they must find a way to defeat the High Witch and overturn her plans. (Recommended for Grades 3 and up)
 
 
Flipper

In this original movie, twelve year-old Sandy convinces his fisherman father to adopt an injured dolphin until the animal recovers from his injury. But when Flipper devours all of the fish that the father has caught, the fate of the dolphin becomes uncertain.
